As an attorney with over 16 years experience, Mr. Cary has litigated a wide range of matters from landlord-tenant disputes, contested custody and family matters, and complex commercial and bankruptcy matters. From 1994 through 2000, Mr. Cary has served as an Assistant Attorney General in various divisions of the Texas Attorney General’s office and has served as Special Prosecutor and District Attorney, Pro Tem, in numerous counties throughout the State. Mr. Cary has taken both the 40 hour basic mediation training and the 30 hour advanced family law mediation training.
For several years, Mr. Cary has served as a Judge for the City of Austin, Municipal Court and has presided over its various dockets, including appearance dockets, the mitigation dockets, and revocation and insurance dockets. He also presides over and hears contested hearings, bench trials (trials before the Judge) and has presided over jury trials. In his capacity as Magistrate for Travis County, Mr. Cary presides over arraignment of class C misdemeanors and issues arrest and search warrants, sets bonds, and magistrates persons arrested in Travis County for class C cases, juvenile matters, class A and B misdemeanor matters and serious felony cases.
Mr. Cary has participated in hundreds of mediated cases as attorney in various types of civil matters and now serves as a mediator in civil cases in a wide range of practice areas including real estate, commercial disputes, consumer matters, and family cases.
